Boolean algebras of unambiguous context-free languages

چکیده
Several recent works have studied subfamilies of deterministic context-free languages with good closure properties, for instance the families of input-driven or visibly pushdown languages, ormore generally families of languages accepted by pushdown automatawhose stack height can be uniquely determined by the input word read so far. These ideas can be described as a notion of synchronization. In this paper we present an extension of synchronization to all context-free languages using graph grammars. This generalization allows one to define boolean algebras of nondeterministic but unambiguous context-free languages containing regular languages.

Unambiguous Boolean grammars
Boolean grammars are an extension of context-free grammars, in which all propositional connectives are allowed. In this paper, the notion of ambiguity in Boolean grammars is defined. It is shown that the known transformation of a Boolean grammar to the binary normal form preserves unambiguity, and that every unambiguous Boolean language can be parsed in time O(n). Linear conjunctive languages a...
متن کاملSynchronization of Regular Automata
Functional graph grammars are finite devices which generate the class of regular automata. We recall the notion of synchronization by grammars, and for any given grammar we consider the class of languages recognized by automata generated by all its synchronized grammars. The synchronization is an automaton-related notion: all grammars generating the same automaton synchronize the same languages...
متن کاملFull Nonassociative Lambek Calculus with Distribution: Models and Grammars
We study Nonassociative Lambek Calculus with additives ∧,∨, satisfying the distributive law (Full Nonassociative Lambek Calculus with Distribution DFNL). We prove that formal grammars based on DFNL, also with assumptions, generate context-free languages. The proof uses proof-theoretic tools (interpolation) and a construction of a finite model, employed in [13] in the proof of Strong Finite Mode...
متن کاملNonassociative Lambek Calculus with Additives and Context-Free Languages
We study Nonassociative Lambek Calculus with additives ∧,∨, satisfying the distributive law (Distributive Full Nonassociative Lambek Calculus DFNL). We prove that categorial grammars based on DFNL, also enriched with assumptions, generate context-free languages. The proof uses proof-theoretic tools (interpolation) and a construction of a finite model, earlier employed in [11] in the proof of Fi...
متن کاملUnambiguity and uniformization problems on infinite trees
A nondeterministic automaton is called unambiguous if it has at most one accepting run on every input. A regular language is called unambiguous if there exists an unambiguous automaton recognizing this language. Currently, the class of unambiguous languages of infinite trees is not well-understood. In particular, there is no known decision procedure verifying if a given regular tree language is...
